I adapted this from an old Bon Appetit recipe from years ago. This is a wonderful holiday cocktail. You can serve it at Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and Valentines Day or for any party, really. This is a regular fixture at our Thanksgiving cocktail hour before the meal, along with the standards – dirty Bombay martinis, vodka tonics with a squeeze of lime and Captain Morgan’s spiced rum with original Coca-Cola.
I’ve made a few changes here to make it easier on the budget.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Total time: 2 hours 10 minutes
Yield: Makes 10 drinks
1 1/4 c. triple sec
1 1/4 c. cran-raspberry juice cocktail
1/2 c. plus 2 T fresh squeezed lime juice
1 bottle Champagne or sparkling wine (roughly 4 cups)
- Stir together triple sec, juices and chill for 2 hours, covered.
- Just before serving, divide into 10 Champagne glasses and top off with sparkling wine. (You want a rough 1:1 ratio of cranberry mixture to champagne). You can float a cranberry on top or garnish with lime.
